I was thinking about purchasing a sax pad saver, also called a “shove it” (great name), but noticed there is quite a bit of debate over the effectiveness of these slimmed down feather dusters. Some say they keep pads dry, young, and mold-free. Others say they actually do more damage than good because lint gets on the pads and ultimately ruins them. I’m holding off. Any thoughts?

A sax teacher recommended this iphone/ipad app and I’m glad he did. It’s awesome. You can use preset chord progressions or create and edit your own in seconds. Great for creating background tracks for practice and play-along. Transposition feature is nice, too.
It reminds me of Band-In-A-Box in that you can take a chord progression and have it played in a number of different styles. Best of all, if you go to the forums (go right from the app) you can download thousands of tunes. Worth the $7.99. I downloaded 1200 jazz tunes the other night — all free.
I have just started fooling around with this app. Obviously, you’ll need more than just the iphone/ipad speaker if you’re playing along. I’ll post more about it as I progress. If you get it, please post your thoughts.
Quick and easy, no-frills cleaning lesson. Worth a look.
You know this song even though you may not know the title. In fact, you probably heard it in the film Pulp Fiction. Here is a link to a youtube video so you can refresh your memory on how the track goes. And then there is a link to the actual music. Easy!
